What support should I ask school for?
The graduated response, and the questions that quietly unlock the right support.
Schools in England follow a 'graduated response' - Assess, Plan, Do, Review - for children needing additional support. Knowing this framework is the difference between asking 'can you help?' and asking 'where are we in the cycle?'
Useful questions: Is my child on the SEN register? At what level? What targeted support is in place? What outcomes are we measuring? When will we review?
Ask for plans to be written down. Verbal reassurance is not evidence - and evidence is what later applications rest on.
